Nanchang (Chinese 南昌市, Pinyin Nanchang Shì) is centrally located in the People's Republic of China and is the capital of Jiangxi Province with 4,970,000 inhabitants (2010) in 7,402 square kilometers of administrative area, of which 1,934,445 in the urban area (as of 1 January 2006). The letter symbol is KHN. The city lies on the southern shore of Poyang Lake; Gan flows past its outskirts. The Star of Nanchang is one of largest Ferris wheels in the world (height 160 m, diameter 153 m; construction cost about 57 million yuan (€) ≈ 6 million; inauguration on May 2, 2006).
