Liuzhou (Zhuang Liujcouh Si; Chinese 柳州市, Pinyin Liǔzhōu Shì) is a prefecture-level city in the autonomous region of Guangxi Zhuang, in the People's Republic of China. The administrative area Liuzhous covers an area of 18,677 and about 3,540,000 inhabitants (end of 2004). Liuzhou is located in the center of Guangxi and is therefore one of the transport and business hubs of the area. Industry: metallurgical processes, mechanical engineering, vehicle construction. In rural areas Liuzhous the sugar cane cultivation dominated. The river Liu winds up in a 180 degree arc around the city. He is spanned by eight road and a railway bridge. In early summer it is often colored yellow by brought from the headwaters of sediments.
