Pale (Serbian-Cyrillic Пале) (German outdated Miliasfeld) is a place in the east of Bosnia and Herzegovina, about 20 kilometers east of Sarajevo in the Romanija region. Today it is part of the city of Istočno Sarajevo. It is a post-Bosnia-based city that has since grown significantly in the Republika Srpska, one of the two entities of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Just south of Pale is the well-known ski resort of Jahorina, one of the main venues for the 1984 Winter Olympics. Pale has a university. In Pale is the Dormition Church.
