Mogilev and Mogilev (Belarusian Магілёў / Mogilev, Russian Могилёв / Mogilev; older German transcription Mogilev) with 374,644 inhabitants (2015) the third largest city in Belarus. It lies in the east of the country on the Dnieper. It is the seat of the administration of the Mogilev Region, industrial city (engineering, chemical fiber, light industry, food industry), railroad, seaport and cultural center of the region with universities, theaters and monuments.
