Mazyr and Mozyr (Belarusian Мазыр / Mazyr; Russian Мозырь / Mozyr; Polish Mozyrz) is a city with 111,600 inhabitants (2006) in the Gomel Region in the southeast of Belarus, 133 km northwest of Gomel and 320 km south of Minsk. Mazyr is on the river Prypjat (Pripjet) close to the restricted area that has been set as a result of the Chernobyl nuclear accident.
