The district Oberwart (Hungarian Felsőőri járás, Croatian Kotar Borta) is a political district of Burgenland. It is located in the south of the state. In the region, Protestant and Catholic settlements alternate. In addition to the German-speaking population, Burgenland Hungary, Burgenland Croats and Roma also live here. Before the accession of Burgenland to Austria (1921), the district belonged to the Hungarian county Eisenburg.
