Engerwitzdorf is a municipality in Upper Austria in the district Urfahr environment in the lower Mühlviertel with 8662 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2016). The community is located in the judicial district Urfahr. The originally purely farming community around Gallneukirchen has no real nucleus, it is made up of 30 villages. Only a small part of the population lives in the eponymous village. Due to the proximity to Linz and the attractive location Engerwitzdorf is one of the fastest growing communities in Austria. In Schweinbach and Mittertreffling two cores with dense buildings and infrastructure (schools, shopping centers and others) have formed otherwise prevail houses and traditional rural villages before. Large parts of the municipality are still dominated by agriculture and forestry.
