Brixen

Brixen im Thale (in the Tyrolean dialect Brix'n, short Brixen i Th.) Is a municipality in Tyrol in Austria with 2615 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2016). It lies about eleven kilometers (as the crow flies) west of the district capital Kitzbühel and is the capital of the Brixental. The municipality is located in the judicial district Kitzbühel. The first written mention of the place took place in the years 788-790 as a "Prixina" in the so-called Notitia Arnonis. However, it is already a settlement around 3000 BC. To prove. Thus, Brixen is the oldest village in the valley, one of the oldest in the archdiocese of Salzburg and in the Tyrolean lowlands.
