Bleiburg (slovene Pliberk) is a bilingual municipality with 4030 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2016) and district court seat in the district Völkermarkt. The municipality is located in the Jaun Valley, at the foot of the Petzen. It owes its name to the former mining industry. Near Bleiburg it came in 1945 for the massacre of Bleiburg.
