Yass Valley is a Local Government Area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales. The area is 3,999 square kilometers and has about 15,000 inhabitants. Yass Valley Shire is located in the southeast of the state and is bordered to the south by the Australian Capital Territory around the capital Canberra. The area includes 32 districts and towns: Bango, Bell Mount Forest, Binalong, Boambolo, Bookham, Bowning, Burrinjuck, Cavan, Dog Trap Crossing, Good Hope, Goondah, Gundaroo, Hall, Illalong Creek, Jeir, Laverstock, Manton, Marchmont, Mullion , Murrumbateman, Nanima, Narrangullen, Spring Range, Tangmangaroo, Uriarra, Wallaroo, Wee Jasper, Woolgarlo, Yass and Yass River and parts of Bywong and Sutton. The administrative headquarters of the Council is located in the town of Yass in the north of the LGA, where about 5,600 people live.
