Tumut Shire has a Local Government Area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales. The area is 4,566 square kilometers and has about 11,000 inhabitants. Tumut is located in the southeast of the state and on the east by the Australian capital Canberra. The area includes 75 districts and places, including Adelong, Argalaong, Batlow, Blowering, Brungle, Cabramurra, Gilmore, Gocup, Graham Town, Kunama, Lacmalac, Minjary, Talbingo, Tumorrama, Tumut, Talbingo, Wondalga, Wyangle and Yarrangobilly. The seat of the Shire Council is located in the town of Tumut in the northeast of the LGA, where about 6,100 people live.
