The formerly called Thredbo River, Crackenback River, is a river in the southeast of the Australian state of New South Wales and springs below the Dead Horse Gap, a pass on the Alpine Way. The valley is parallel to the valley of the Snowy River about 8 km southeast in north east. The only settlement in the valley is Thredbo Village, a well-known winter sports resort. The Thredbo River flows into Lake Jindabyne and the Snowy River.
