The Tamworth Region is a Local Government Area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales. The area is 9,713 square kilometers and has about 56,000 inhabitants. Tamworth is located in the northeast of the country about 420 kilometers north of Sydney and 570 km south-west of Brisbane. The area includes 82 districts and towns, including Barraba, Bective, Bendemeer, Bowling Alley Point, Coledale, Daruka, Dungowan, Duri, Hanging Rock, Hillvue, Kingwood, Kootingal, Limbri, Manilla, Upper Manilla, Moore, Nemingha, Nundle, Somerton , Taminda, Tamworth, Tintinhull, Warral, Watsons Creek, Weabonga, Westdale and Woolomin and parts of Attunga, Calala, Moonbi and Woolbrook. The administrative headquarters of the Council is located in the town of Tamworth in the middle of the LGA, where about 36,000 people live.
