Muswellbrook Shire is a Local Government Area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales. The area is 3,406 square kilometers and has about 16,000 inhabitants. Muswellbrook is located in the east of the state in the region around the Hunter River about 270 kilometers north of Sydney. The area includes 56 districts and towns, including Baerami, Baerami Creek, Castle Rock, Denman, Glen Gallic, Kayuga, Kerrabee, McCullys Gap, Muscle Creek, Muswellbrook, Sandy Hollow and Widden, Wybong. The seat of the Shire Council is located in the town of Muswellbrook in the northeast of the LGA, where about 11,000 people live.
