Gundagai Shire is a Local Government Area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales. The area is 2,458 square kilometers and has about 3,700 inhabitants. Gundagai is located in the southeast of the state at the Murrumbidgee River about 160 km north-west of the Australian capital Canberra and 370 km south-east of Sydney. The area includes 49 districts and places, including Adjungbilly, coolac, Darbalara, Gundagai, Mundarlo, Muttama, Pettitts, Reno, Tumblong and parts of Jugiong and Nangus. The seat of the Shire Council is located in Gundagai, where about 1,900 people live.
