Dungog Shire is a local administrative district (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales. The area is 2,251 km² and has about 8,300 inhabitants. Dungog is located in the midst of the Hunter Valley, about 225 km north of the metropolis of Sydney. The area encompasses 85 districts and localities including Allynbrook, Bandon Grove, Bendolba, Brookfield, Chichester, Clarence Town, Fosterton, Gresford, East Gresford, Eccleston, Main Creek, Martins Creek, Paterson, Vacy and most of Dungog. The seat of the Shire Council is located in Dungog in the east of the LGA, where about 2,100 residents live.
